The highs and lows of cup football is what every fan loves or on occassion, loathes!



On the day, a team 90 places below their opponents in the league
standings can go on and shock players, pundits and fans alike. It's the
chance for the smaller clubs and players to live the dream. Play with
the big boys and come away with more than a famous shirt.


And from next season, Back of the Net will be no different. YES,
there will be a new format to the cup competitions. We currently settle
our cup ties over two legs, European-esque matches so to speak. Not any
more. After a brainstorm by Sam635, we will now revert to the "one
match - anything can happen" cup tie's which is sure to go down an
absolute storm for every member of the site.


Picture the scene. You're sitting on 486 kudos and the cup fixtures
are out. Samba has sent you the invite, hungry for more silverwear to
add to his already gleaming trophy cabinet. "One game, just one game"
you say to yourself. "Anything can happen. Everybody has a bad day,
even Samba".


This new format finally opens the doors to those players on the
site that can play anybody off the park in the one match but fail to
hit a level of consistency that see's them going through over the 180
gaming minutes.


Next season will see more giantkilling than ever before. A season
where refreshing finals are made and trophies awarded to the guys who
are not among the front runners. Penalty shoot-outs will decide more
games than ever, extra time goals against tired legs will see orders
for broken Xbox pads rocket due to the amount thrown off walls!


Yes, gentlemen, cup football is going to be truly back with a bang
next season and we can't wait to see the underdogs claiming the
silverwear they have dreamed of since joining Back of the Net!
